The Cruise Season From the Port of New York is in Full Swing
The cruise season from the Port of New York is in full swing. Currently there are 7 ships making regular sailings to Europe, Bermuda, Florida, the Bahamas, Halifax and St John New Brunswick Canada.
Starting in late August, many ships will start repositioning from the Mediterranean and Northern Europe to spend the fall sailing from New York to New England and Canada. Some cruises will sail round trip from New York, while others will sail on one-way cruises to Montreal and/or Quebec Canada, where passengers can embark/disembark. These longer one-way cruises allow passengers to explore additional Canadian ports further down the St. Lawrence Seaway.
During the winter months, both Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) will offer cruises to the Bahamas, Florida, the Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean.
Cunard Line offers winter sailings in November and December followed by a World Cruise in early January touching almost all continents in 100+ days.
These cruises provide passengers the convenience of sailing locally from the Port of New York, avoiding excessively priced airfares.
If you are traveling to New York, airfares tend to be more reasonable than most cruise departure ports.
Depending on the cruise line and sailing dates the cruises depart from either the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, Brooklyn Cruise Terminal or the Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal Bayonne, NJ.
Cruise lines departing from NY include: Carnival Cruises, Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Costa Cruises, Crystal Cruises(Luxury), SilverSea Cruises (Luxury), Royal Carribean Cruises (Cape Liberty), Celebrity Cruises (Cape Liberty), Princess Cruises(Brooklyn) and Cunard Line (Brooklyn) to name a few. (Departure locations can vary).
Small ship cruises are available for an intimate experience. These ships carry less than 100 passengers and normally have a subset of amendities found on larger ships. These cruise lines include – American Cruise Line and Blount Adventure Cruises.

Adventure Travel Questions:
Romantic Road Trip?
Hi there. I’m planning a road trip for me and my fiance in mid May before he leaves for Iraq. We are from Pittsburgh, PA. We are driving to Wildwood, NJ first. We are going to Six Flags Great Adventure and to the Jersey Shore. Then we are heading to Newport, RI. I think we are doing a traveling tour of the mansions in Newport. We might go sailing, but we are definitely taking the cliff walk. After that, we are going to Concord, MA. We are visiting Alcott, Emerson, Thoreau, and Hawthorne sites. We are also visiting Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and Salem, MA.
My question is… how can I make our road trip more romantic? And how can I make it more memorable since he will be leaving for Iraq soon? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
if driving at night drive to the beach & take a night walk under the moon. Play love songs in the car. don’t rush the trip. take longer walks, When sailing pack a basket lunch with wine glasses & a bottle of wine (ok you or him dont like wine drink what you like out of the wine glasses) Just make every moment last for ever.
